Facing the segregation that took place in the 1980s by American cultural authorities, the collective Group Material makes the choice of a temporary conversion of the exhibition format to another cognitive model. By means of the timeline, their exhibitions, BOTH COMPLEX AND INCLUSIVE, HAVE BROUGHT TOGETHER a wide range of style, ethnic groups, gender and sexual orientations, overthrowing hierarchy between insiders / outsiders of art and the hegemony of white american culture, male and heteronormative. Inspired by tactics developed by Group Material, the exhibition will relate the evolution of the Women’s Liberation Movement (MLF) in Geneva, a protest movement which arose circa 1960 from untold reformist and radical groups.
